Climara Pro Description
Climara Pro is the brand name of a medication that falls under the category of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Throughout the world, HRT is a popular choice for women who are into their menopausal phase and whose oestrogen and progesterone (female hormones) levels have dropped significantly due to this. HRT medications artificially boost the hormonal levels in such women and provide them relief from certain discomforting symptoms of menopause. Climara Pro is a transdermal patch with adhesives that sticks to your skin and continuously releases a controlled amount of the hormones levonorgestrel and estradiol into your body. Each 22cm2 patch contains the active ingredients levonorgestrel (1.39 mg) and estradiol hemihydrates (4.55mg which is the equivalent of 4.40 mg of estradiol-17β). The patch also contains vinyl acetate copolymer/polyvinylpyrrolidone and an acrylate copolymer adhesive as inactive ingredients. This medication is available only by prescription and is presented by Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Conditions Treated by Climara Pro
Climara Pro is primarily prescribed to menopausal women in order to provide them relief from common menopause symptoms like sweating, hot flushes and chills. It is also prescribed to prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis. When Climara Pro patch is applied to the skin, it slowly releases the hormones into your bloodstream. In menopausal women, the ovaries are no longer able to produce oestrogen leading to several uncomfortable symptoms and weakening of bones. This decrease in oestrogen is replaced by the estradiol in Climara Pro thereby providing you relief from the symptoms and also protecting you from osteoporosis. Levonorgestrel is a progestin that reduces the risk of cancer of the endometrium (the lining of your uterus). However, if you have undergone hysterectomy, Levonorgestrel will have no active role to play in your HRT treatment.
Climara Pro Dosage Information
a.) Typical dosage recommendations
Typical dosage of Climara Pro is one transdermal patch once a week i.e. one patch every seven days. While the patch is applied, it releases 15 µg of levonorgestrel and 45 µg of estradiol-17β into your bloodstream each day. Dosage schedule follows a twenty eight day cycle i.e. four patches at the end of which a new cycle starts with a fresh pack.
b.) Missing a dose
Change your patch on the same day each week in order to avoid missing a dose. In case you have missed applying the patch on the scheduled day, apply it as soon as you remember.
