CeeNU Dosage Information
a.) Typical Dosage Recommendations
This is an oral medication that has to be taken through the mouth with plenty of water on an empty stomach. This may reduce your vomiting and nausea. Your physician may prescribe one single dose of this medication. You may have to take capsules of two or more different strengths and colours. You will be advised by your physician to increase your fluid intake tremendously, otherwise you may fall prey to dehydration. Your recommended dosage will depend on your physical response to the medication, body size, other treatments that you might be undergoing such as chemotherapy, radiation and your medical condition. Do not alter your dosage or frequency of dosage without consulting your physician.
b.) Missing a Dose
You need to contact your physician if you miss a dose of CeeNU.
Rush the patient to the nearest ER or contact your physician or seek emergency/urgent medical intervention if you have overdosed on Lomustine. A patient who has overdosed on Lomustine will experience severe forms of the most serious side effects mentioned in this patient manual.
Taking CeeNU can lead to severe blood disorders. It reduces the functions of bone marrow which results in minimised platelets or white blood cells, leading to anaemia. Because of these blood disorders, your immunity system takes a direct hit, your body loses its ability for fighting infections and your risk of easy bleeding increases manifold. The blood disorder side effects will start to manifest 4 to 6 weeks after starting this medication. Frequent doses of CeeNU or higher doses of this medication can maximise the risks of these side effects. To prevent these blood disorders from becoming life threatening, your physician will subject you to weekly blood tests and monitor your condition closely for a minimum of six weeks after every dose of CeeNU. There should be a gap of six weeks at least between two doses of this medication. Depending on the outcome of your blood test reports, your physician will decide on further treatment and necessary dosage or dosage alteration. Lomustine is absorbed through lungs and the skin. Women who are trying to conceive or are already pregnant should physically stay away from this medication, should not breath the capsule ingredients or handle the capsules. You cannot receive live vaccines while on Lomustine medication. Nor should you come in contact with people who have received live vaccines recently as you may contract the virus yourself.
